One of the best parts of living in the Washington D.C. area is how many wonderful vacation spots we’re close to in just a few hours’ time. Last weekend, I traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia for a much-needed moms’ trip with three of my favorite women in the world: Amy of Teach Mama, Jessica of A Parent in Silver Spring, and Stacey of Justice Fergie and Blogalicious.

The three of us have loads in common but with busy lives — including three active children each — we have trouble finding time to get together. So, this trip was long in the planning, and we were thrilled to find ourselves at a two-bedroom condo in the Kingsmill Resort.

Kingsmill resort spa

The only AAA Four Diamond Condominium Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia, Kingsmill Resort is a large and beautiful property, with a full on-site spa, indoor pool and jacuzzi, restaurants, two renowned golf courses, and plenty of condos, guest rooms, and cottages. Our condo, which had a full kitchen, living room, washer & dryer, and more was larger than the two-bedroom apartment my husband and I used to live in back in Brooklyn.

The condo was ideal, because it allowed us to take turns cooking a few meals, and saving our budget for the spa and a dinner out to celebrate Amy’s birthday.

Speaking of the spa, it was so lovely. Amy, Stacey, and I had botanical pedicures, and Jessica had a massage, but we all took advantage of donning robes and relaxing together in the sunlit lounge, where we read, drank tea, and visited with another group of women — sisters! — who were also on a ladies’ vacation together. The resort offers not only nail services and massages, but also a hair salon, facials, and body/wellness treatments.

The sisters we meant took a long soak in the pool and jacuzzi after their treatments, but the girls and I ended up going back to our room to do what we do best — talk — and admire the gorgeous sunset from our balcony!

We only went out to eat once — to Fat Tuna Grill — to celebrate Amy’s birthday, but there are a few places to eat on property as well. That dinner outing was the only time left the Kingsmill Resort before checkout!

The next day we ventured out for a walk before we headed back to Maryland and took one last look at a special place where we finally had time to catch up and enjoy a girlfriends’ holiday together.
