If you have ever wished your gym would turn off the TV in its childcare facility and actually get your kids to exercise while you are exercising, the new TRUE Health & Wholeness in Arlington is worth a look. Owned by Nina and Christian Elliot, parents of four children, the holistic gym offers a fresh approach to fitness.

The facility, located on S. Walter Reed Drive and Columbia Pike, features a large childcare area with plenty of room for big kids to move and a smaller, light-filled playroom for younger ones, complete with rocking chair, changing table and crib. The Elliots want children engaged in meaningful play and activity rather than being sedentary.

This summer, TRUE is offering three weeks of summer camp for children, and in the fall, the gym will soon be offering Kid Fit classes so kids can get their sweat on at the same time as their parents! A new mommy & me class for babies up to crawling is debuting on Saturdays. All week long, the gym offers large group classes, small group personal training, and individual personal training. The owners believe that change happens in community.

But the gym doesn’t just do exercise. It also does food! Healthy grab n go snacks are available for purchase, and nutrition classes are available, including support for breastfeeding mothers trying elimination diets to address their children’s sensitivities. TRUE is participating with From the Farmer local farm food delivery service.
