Today is the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, which lasts every year from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Macy’s is celebrating Latino culture this year with a series of special events at select stores throughout the month. This Saturday, Macy’s is hosting a free celebrity event at the Westfield Wheaton Mall this Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2pm. The event will feature a live discussion between Latina sensations: fashion beauty director Kika Rocha, style icon Sincerely Jules and singer Jasmine Villegas. There will also be mini makeovers and a live performance by Jasmine V.
Since Westfield Wheaton is the closest mall to me, it was an enthusiastic “YES” when Everywhere Society asked me to post about Macy’s Hispanic Heritage event. Not only am I local to Westfield Wheaton, but I’m also Latina and a big supporter of celebrating Latino culture during #HHM, since we do make up 15% of the population and the largest ethnic minority in the United States. But you don’t have to be Latina to enjoy the event. If you’re looking for a fun afternoon event, join us for mini-makeovers, a fun convo, and a live performance this Saturday! Westfield Wheaton is located at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd, Wheaton, MD 20902 (that’s just a couple of miles north of the Georgia Ave. 495 exit).
