Fillmore Silver Spring

We live in one of the most culturally significant areas of the country, and one of the best parts of being close to DC (and Baltimore for that matter) is all of the wonderful performances we can see within easy driving range. We were just in the Outer Banks for Spring Break, and our friends who live there year-round have to get on a ferry and then drive two hours to get to a concert, play, or show. The Fillmore Silver Spring is offering one lucky reader two general admission tickets to one of two shows: The Aquabats at 7PM on Saturday, May 10th or Eric Hutchinson at 8PM on Friday, May 23. Here’s more about each show:

The Aquabats: This ska band has been around since 1994, and the frontman Christian Jacobs aka the MC Bat Commander is actually the co-creator of “Yo Gabba Gabba!,” so the group-turned-family TV show act should be familiar to many of you, especially if your kids watch “Yo Gabba Gabba!” They also have their own series, “The Aquabats! Super Show!” on the Hub. Ready to party with your kids? Get tickets to see the Aquabats!

Watch them sing “Pool Party” on YGG:

Eric Hutchinson is a local boy! He grew up in Takoma Park, Md. and attended the Communication Arts Program at Montgomery Blair High School. The singer-songwriter now lives in New York, but the DC area remains his hometown, and he plays here frequently. I first came across his songs on XM Sirius: The Spectrum, and he’s got this catchy folksy vibe ala Jason Mraz or Brett Dennen. Get tickets to see Eric Hutchinson!

Eric Hutchinson performs my family’s favorite of his songs, “Watching You Watch Him”:

To enter to win the tickets, just leave a comment explaining why you’d like to see one or both acts. We’ll pick two winners (one for each act) and let them know by end of day on Monday May 5th. Consider it our Cinco de Mayo present to our readers!
