BRMadMen

To me nothing makes being put together easier than taking tips from the styles of the 1960’s.  There was elegance, tailoring, panache and sensibility to the way people dressed.  Incorporating looks from this era are easier than ever with the popularity of AMC’s hit show, “Mad Men”.  Now, for the second season, Banana Republic has teamed up with the shows costume designer, Janie Bryant, to create 65 pieces for the BR Mad Men collection.

Available online and in stores the BR Mad Men capsule features knit sweaters, tailored suits, trousers and even felt fedora hats for men.  Cotton pocket squares, silk ties, tie bars and money clips are also in this collection.  The women’s pieces may be on slim fitting models but to me it is all about the show’s character Joan Holloway.   There are chic trench coat’s, silk tie-neck blouses (very hot this year), high-waisted skirts, button-down sweaters and tailored sheath dresses as well as fitted dresses with a-line bottoms.  The accessories are all about leopard print shoes, handbags and scarves.  These are wardrobe staples no matter what decade you are living in and they make going out and dressing for work as easy and simple as the lines in this set.

The Mad Men collection is available this fall at Banana Republic stores and online. Prices range from $40 to $250.
