• Name: Henry Rollins (Born Henry Lawrence Garfield)
  • Age: 50
  • Hometown: Washington, DC
  • Marital Status: Single
  • You Know Him From: the punk rock scene where he fronted Black Flag and the Rollins Band as well as his work as an author, spoken word artist, activist, and actor in movies like “The Chase” and “Heat” and tv shows like “Sons of Anarchy”
  • Why Him: Because he combines the naughty-bad-boy thing with incredibly cerebral intelligence. This is a man covered in tattoos, with rock-hard muscles, and a voice that sounds like a shot of bourbon who quotes the Constitution. I’ve been to see him speak no fewer than 6 times and every time he ives me something new to think about and not just in my fantasies. He talks about music, culture, politics, and global society in smart, accessible ways, usually while wearing a worn t-shirt that I want to rip off his buff body.
  • Fangirl Confession: I wrote a fan letter to Rollins in 2001. I was old enough to know better than to write to famous crushes but did it anyway. He responded and we had a brief back-and-forth over email for a few months after that. The correspondence culminated with him sending me (unsolicited) a box of mix CD’s he made and comping me for a spoken word show he did in my city a few months later. I never met him in person and our conversations were only in writing and always about music, art, and theatre so the story isn’t all that hot but it was great to have a crush be cool to me.
